About Coop's Croft

Hello,

Thank you for taking the time to explore Coop’s Croft. Allow me to introduce myself and provide insight into what we’re all about.

I’m Ryan Cooper, a lifelong resident of Pennsville and a carpenter. Nature has always been my sanctuary, and now, in my retirement, I’ve embarked on the journey of creating Coop’s Croft—a local private community garden. Here, members can enjoy an abundance of fresh, locally grown vegetables, fruits, herbs, and flowers.

What sets us apart? We’re developing over 20,000 square feet of garden beds that will host an impressive array of produce: 119 varieties of flowers, 23 types of fruit, 26 kinds of herbs, and 145 varieties of vegetables. Members can anticipate a weekly delivery of these delights straight to their doorsteps throughout the harvest season (Peak season June-October). Despite the rising costs, membership stands at a reasonable $300 annually.

Located in the heart of the Penn Beach section of Pennsville, our property is a serene retreat with nature in a neighborhood setting.

As for timing, our membership season runs from June 1st to May 31st of the following year, offering 32 weeks of harvest within that period. With our extended season, diverse varieties, and efficient methods, we expect to have something thriving in the garden for 10 months of the year. From May 15th onwards, members are welcome to visit the garden by appointment, Monday through Saturday, 9 am to 6 pm. With a day’s notice, you can even lend a hand in the garden, but is not required.

Why are we doing this? Simply put, our aim is to cultivate fresh, organic produce for a select group of members while honoring the natural harmony of our surroundings. It’s a wonderful opportunity to enjoy locally sourced fare that’s bursting with flavor and uniqueness.

Though I’m no culinary expert, I’ll be sharing recipes and cooking what the garden provides through videos posted on this site.

Joining Coop’s Croft is straightforward, but memberships are limited. Keep an eye out for postcard mailers in March to secure your spot, and feel free to reach out to me directly with any questions (Text 856-812-3180). This is the time when seeds are sown, plants are ordered, and the real work begins.
