FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions)

A private Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program is a membership-based arrangement between individuals or households and a local farm or group of farms. In this setup, members pay an upfront fee or subscription to receive a share of the farm’s produce or goods on a regular basis, typically weekly or bi-weekly throughout the growing season.

Unlike traditional CSAs that may be open to the public, private CSAs are often limited to a specific group of members, such as employees of a company, residents of a housing community, or members of an organization. The goal of a private CSA program is to establish a direct connection between consumers and local farmers while supporting sustainable agricultural practices and ensuring access to fresh, seasonal produce.

  1. Access to Fresh, Local Produce: Members receive fresh, seasonal produce directly from local farms, often harvested at peak ripeness, which enhances flavor and nutritional value.
  2. Supporting Local Farmers: By participating in a private CSA program, members directly support local farmers and their communities, contributing to the sustainability of small-scale agriculture.
  3. Connection to Food Source: Joining a CSA fosters a deeper connection to where food comes from and how it’s grown, promoting awareness of sustainable farming practices and reducing reliance on industrialized food systems.
  4. Variety and Seasonality: CSA shares often include a diverse range of fruits, vegetables, herbs, and sometimes other farm products, providing members with exposure to seasonal produce and encouraging culinary creativity.
  5. Environmental Benefits: Supporting local agriculture reduces the carbon footprint associated with transporting food long distances, promoting environmental sustainability and reducing reliance on fossil fuels.
  6. Community Building: CSA programs often cultivate a sense of community among members, as they share in the experience of supporting local agriculture and may participate in farm events, volunteer opportunities, or educational activities.
  7. Health and Nutrition: Access to fresh, locally grown produce can contribute to a healthier diet, as it is often higher in nutrients and has undergone minimal processing compared to store-bought alternatives.
  8. Transparency and Accountability: CSA programs promote transparency in food production by allowing members to interact directly with farmers, ask questions about farming practices, and visit the farm if permitted, fostering trust and accountability in the food supply chain.

Overall, joining a private CSA program offers a holistic approach to food consumption, emphasizing sustainability, community, and the enjoyment of fresh, flavorful produce.

The season starts for us in January, but we start harvesting in late May and keep harvesting until mid-December in grow tunnels. The greenhouses can produce some leafy greens and herbs until the end of December. We figure our season is about 32 weeks. The peak of the season is from July until mid-October.

We send out an invoice when you join for $300. We understand some people may not have that in their budget, so we offer $100 at the time of joining and then $100 every 30 days until the $300 invoice is paid in full. We are flexible.

If you shop at Acme, SaveALot or the local farm market, you would spend about 2-3X more than joining and we deliver to your door once a week. Fresher produce, more varieties to choose from as well.

Join Today! We have a limited membership of 20 farm/garden shares.
